Citroen C5 Review
If you want a medium sized car that offers exceptional comfort and refinement, you could do a lot worse than a used Citroen C5 from The Car Shop Megastore.
The C5 is available in a choice of five-door hatchback or estate models, with a choice of 1.8, punchy 2.0 or expensive to run 3.0 V6 petrol engines. The underpowered 1.6 diesel is comfortably outperformed by the refined 2.2 diesel engine.
A Citroen C5 is great for long distance cruising, the unique Hydractive gas suspension ironing out almost every bump – but it does lean through corners and the steering feels numb. However, negligible suspension and road noise, plus the subdued engines, make for peaceful progress. The C5 also received a maximum 5 stars in Euro NCAP safety tests.
Behind the wheel, the generous cabin offers ample room for five adults, and height adjustable front seats and rake and reach adjustment on the steering ensure a comfortable drive. In the back the sloping roof does impact on the headroom, but the large rectangular boot offers plenty of space and easy access. The fold down rear seats offer extra versatility.
The C5 comes with generous equipment throughout the range, even in the lower trim models, with satellite navigation and metallic paint as standard on the VTX.
