Citroen C6 Review

A Citroen C6 luxury saloon makes a distinctive, stylish alternative to its more well-known German counterparts.

The C6 comes in a choice of 2.7 turbodiesel or 3.0 V6 petrol. Both offer smooth performance via the six-speed automatic gearbox, but the diesel engine is quicker and more economical – not to mention cheaper to buy!

Citroen's flagship model offers their revolutionary Hydractive suspension, which uses gas spheres instead of conventional steel springs to keep the car level regardless of the load. The emphasis is definitely on comfort, so don’t expect the most precise handling – body roll is a problem and the ultra light steering can take some getting used to. Road noise can also be an irritation at low speeds.

A Citroen C6 offers seat and steering wheel adjustment to ensure an ideal driving position, although the eyecatching styling makes judging the car's extremities a tough proposition. As you'd expect there is plenty of room in the back, although very tall passengers may find their heads brushing that sweeping roofline. The boot isn’t exceptional for space either.

The C6 is packed with all the comforts you’d expect of a prestige saloon, although some of the controls are a struggle. Similarly, some of the features offered by its competitors, such as keyless entry and starting, aren’t even available as options.
