Citroen Saxo Review
A used Citroen Saxo from The Car Shop Megastore is cheap and fun to drive, delivering a fine blend of handling and ride comfort.
The one-, 1.1- and 1.4-litre petrol engines are all easy on the pocket, while the truly miserly can go for the 1.5 diesel, though don't expect to get anywhere fast. In contrast, the 1.6 VTR and VTS models are exceptional bargain hot hatches that respond to steering and throttle inputs with razor reactions.
Getting comfy behind the wheel can be hit or miss since the steering and seat positions are fixed, and the cramped foot pedals could cause difficulty for some drivers. The interiors are simple and provide reasonable space front and back, but the seats offer little support and are uncomfortable over long journeys.
Trim levels run from basic X models through to the sportier VTR and VTS models, which offer refinements such as electric front windows and remote central locking.
