Used Hyundai Accent
Looking for a good value large hatchback? Then take a look at a used Hyundai Accent from The Car Shop Megastore. The 96bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine is zippy enough around town but soon starts flagging at higher revs, so take care when overtaking – especially on the motorway.

Hyundai Accent
A used Hyundai Accent is easy rather than exciting to drive – the soft suspension soaking up the bumps at the expense of sharp handling. Similarly, the light steering is great when you’re trying to squeeze into a tight parking place but lacks feel at speed.
Get behind the wheel of a used Hyundai Accent and you should be able to find a driving position to suit you, although the range of adjustments is limited. The dash is straightforward and clear, but no competition for European superminis. The cabin is spacious with enough legroom for four six-footers, although headroom is tight in the back
There’s only one level of trim, but the standard equipment is generous. You get alloy wheels, air-conditioning, remote central locking, electric front windows and a CD player. The only optional extras are metallic paint and an automatic gearbox.
Used Hyundai Amica
For affordability and low running costs, you can’t go wrong with a used Hyundai Amica from The Car Shop Megastore. With a 1.1-litre petrol engine delivering an average 52.3mpg and group 3 insurance, the Amica is ideal for people on a tight budget.
Choose a used Hyundai Amica and you’ll find that, while the performance is modest, the engine is willing and flexible. The handling is another matter. While the ride is fairly comfortable, the skinny tyres and tall, narrow design make the car feel wobbly through even the shallowest curves.
Inside, the tall shape and large glass area makes a used Hyundai Amica feel more spacious than you might expect. The driving position is comfortable and the high driving position affords a good view out in all directions. There’s room for four adults and the boot is fair for a car this size.
There are two models to choose from – the entry level GSI with electric front windows and CD player, or the CDX which adds remote central locking and keyless entry, alloy wheels and air conditioning.
Used Hyundai Coupe
Sports cars don’t come much better value than a used Hyundai Coupe from The Car Shop Megastore. Just ignore the underpowered 1.6-litre and go for either the 2.0-litre or the 2.7 V6. The six-speed V6 is the fastest but the 2.0 is no slouch either, although you’ll have to make full use of its five-speed gearbox to keep up.
Out on the open road a used Hyundai Coupe is fairly composed, keeping body roll in check through corners with just a hint of understeer. However, bumpy surfaces easily ruffle the suspension and the steering can feel a bit lifeless.
Take the wheel and you’ll find the controls well laid-out and easy to use, but your head may be brushing the ceiling. Some people could find the position of the clutch pedal a little awkward as well. Unsurprisingly the rear seats are a bit of a token gesture – but they do fold down to increase the capacity of the already generous boot.
Most used Hyundai Coupes are well equipped, all later models featuring air-conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking an alarm and an MP3-compatible CD stereo. The 2.0 and V6 also give you leather seats and a sunroof.
Used Hyundai Getz
If you’re looking for a medium-sized hatchback with compact costs, ask The Car Shop Megastore about a used Hyundai Getz. There are two petrol engines to choose from: a 66bhp 1.1-litre and a quicker 95bhp 1.4-litre petrol with added overtaking power. There’s also a 1.5-litre turbodiesel that, while hardly quick, has good mid-range acceleration.
A used Hyundai Getz handles well and offers reasonable grip, but is clearly geared towards comfort rather than thrills. While the soft suspension evens out most bumps with ease, it also causes a lot of lean through corners and the steering feels uninvolving. Wind and road noise are all fairly muted so long journeys aren’t too wearing.
The cabin of a used Hyundai Getz puts simplicity first. The driving position is fine for most people, despite having limited adjustments, and the controls are all clear and well placed. There is plenty of room for four adults and the boot is a useful size and shape. The rear seats can also be tipped forward to create a large flat deck for large loads.
All models are well specified, with air-conditioning, electric front windows, central locking and a CD player. The top models additionally offer alloy wheels, electric door mirrors and, on the five door, electric rear windows.
Used Hyundai i30
If you want a small family car that won’t break the bank, get down to The Car Shop Megastore for a used Hyundai i30. There are two petrol models, a 108bhp 1.4 and a 120bhp 1.6, and two diesels, a 113bhp 1.6 and a 138bhp 2.0.The diesels offer the best combination of economy and pace.

Hyundai i30
On the road a used Hyundai i30 is best described as polite. It’s not going to upset anyone – or excite them. The handling is confident enough and the ride is well controlled, but the steering feels too light at speed and the suspension crashes over large bumps. All models offer stability control as standard – a costly extra on many of its competitors.
The cabin of a used Hyundai i30 feels well put together and features more safety kit than many of its rivals, with front, side and curtain airbags on even the basic models. The driving position is comfortable with adjustable seats and steering column, and the dash is logically arranged and mostly straightforward to use.
All i30s are well equipped. Even the standard Comfort model offers air-conditioning, four electric windows and alloys. Move up the range and you’ll also find climate control, reversing sensors and heated front seats.
Used Hyundai Matrix
Growing family? Get the small MPV that came top of the class in the 2006 JD Power customer satisfaction survey. Visit The Car Shop Megastore for a used Hyundai Matrix. You can choose from a 1.6 or 1.8-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine.
Whether you’re on your own or on a family outing, a used Hyundai Matrix handles well on most surfaces, although rutted city streets can shake its composure. Body lean is well controlled but not the best in its class, and wind and road noise can become tiring at speed.
Big windows and an upright driving position means a used Hyundai Matrix gives you a commanding view of the road. Passengers and their luggage all have plenty of space, but unlike some competitors the rear seats aren’t removable, they just split 60/40.
Each engine is available in one trim. The 1.6 and turbodiesel both come in GSI spec, with alloy wheels, air-conditioning and four electric windows. The 1.8 CDX adds leather upholstery, larger alloy wheels and an electric sunroof.
Used Hyundai Santa Fe
For a great value 4x4, look no further than a used Hyundai Santa Fe from The Car Shop Megastore. You could go for the 2.7-litre V6 petrol engine, but the 2.2-litre turbodiesel has more pull, revs more eagerly and has a five-speed manual or auto box instead of the V6’s four-speed auto.
Now with a longer wheelbase, new rear suspension and an electronic drive system to help you keep control, a used Hyundai Santa Fe is an enjoyable, refined drive. The handling is confident and the steering is well weighted and responsive. There’s little engine or road noise, and wind noise only intrudes at motorway speeds.
A used Hyundai Santa Fe is well put together inside and out, with a good dash layout and an easy to adapt driving position – with electric seat adjustment on most models. You can choose either a five-seat option with a vast boot or a five-plus-two arrangement with two additional children’s seats and a smaller boot. In either case the rear seats fold flat for extra carrying capacity.
All models come with six airbags, air-conditioning and a CD player, and all 7-seaters also feature self-levelling suspension. Spend a little extra for the CDX and you’ll also get leather upholstery, heated front seats and climate and stability control.
Used Hyundai Sonata
Large family saloons with all the extras are rarely, if ever, as affordable as a used Hyundai Sonata from The Car Shop Megastore. There are two petrol engines: a 2.0-litre with 143bhp and a 3.3-litre V6 with 232bhp, plus a 2.0-litre turbodiesel that delivers 138bhp and an average 46.3mpg.
A used Hyundai Sonata is a competent but not inspired drive. The steering is lacklustre and although the ride is smooth when you pick up the pace, ruts and irregularities upset its equilibrium at lower speeds. There’s also too much body lean in corners which, when combined with the leather upholstery, can lead to passengers piling up in the back.
Most drivers should be able to make themselves at home in a used Hyundai Sonata, with the adjustable seats and steering, and the controls are simple and easy to use. There’s plenty of space for five adults and a huge boot that will easily engulf their luggage. The rear seat also splits and folds down if you need some extra room.
The 2.0 and 2.0 turbodiesel models all feature alloy wheels, leather trim, sat-nav, stability control, air-conditioning and a CD player. The 3.3 adds an automatic gearbox and parking sensors.
Used Hyundai Terracan
If you’d like a big 4x4 but want to skip the big price tag, a used Hyundai Terracan from The Car Shop Megastore could be right up your street. There’s only one engine available – a 2.9-litre turbodiesel developing 160bhp and 246lb ft of pulling power. It won’t win any races, but there’s enough power to ensure you won’t be embarrassed overtaking.
A used Hyundai Terracan has lots of ground clearance, a low-ratio transfer box and sits on a separate chassis, so it can really deliver the goods off the beaten track. Unfortunately this performance doesn’t translate quite so well to the road, where the soft springs allow a lot of lean through bends and the steering feels disappointingly dull and unresponsive.
Most drivers should find it easy to get comfortable in a used Hyundai Terracan. The upright seating position is fairly accommodating, although there isn’t much room for adjustment, and the dash is straightforward and mostly easy to use. Surprisingly for a car this size there is only room for five adults, with no option for a third row of seats. However, this ensures there is always a very large boot.
There is only one level of trim, so you can expect to find most essentials come as standard. Safety equipment is better than some rivals with twin front and side airbags, ABS and an alarm. You also get alloy wheels, electric windows, climate control and a CD player.
Used Hyundai Tucson
Affordable off-roading is within everyone’s reach with a used Hyundai Tucson from The Car Shop Megastore. You can choose from two petrol units: a 140bhp 2.0-litre and a 173bhp 2.7-litre V6 automatic, plus a 111bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel.
Refreshingly, a used Hyundai Tucson doesn’t feel too agricultural on the road, thanks to a clever four-wheel-drive system that monitors road conditions and only powers the front wheels until extra traction is needed. The ride is good too, controlling lean and smoothing out most bumps, but the steering lacks feedback.
Behind the wheel drivers should be able to make themselves comfortable, although the seat and steering only has limited adjustment. You’ll also enjoy a good view of the road – except to the rear where thick pillars block the view over your shoulder. The dash is clear and simple, but the fiddly stereo could become a distraction.
A used Hyundai Tucson comes with plenty of standard kit. Base models come complete with alloy wheels, electric windows, central locking and air-conditioning. For a little extra the CDX also gives you leather upholstery and cruise control.
These are just some of the models you can expect to find at The Car Shop. You can choose from a full selection of hatchbacks, saloons, people carriers, estates, MPVs, coupes, convertibles, sports cars and luxury models. We can even give you some helpful suggestions of similar cars you might also want to try and compare.
We can also help you find competitive and flexible finance, whatever your credit history, and you can Buy and Go in just one hour – try that at most other used Nissan dealers!
