News: CarShop team tackle the national Three Peaks challenge

As part of CarShop’s commitment to raising £100,000 for Global’s Make Some Noise, under the CarShop Cares Charity Programme, a team of six from around the business strapped-on their boots and took on the National Three Peaks Challenge, in a bid to raise the all-important funds needed to support children throughout the UK.

Commencing the journey at Manchester’s Piccadilly Station on Friday 11th August, the team covered nearly 1,000 miles of ground, climbed over 3,000 metres and stood tall at the three highest points in Great Britain during the course of the weekend.

Made-up of determined and passionate colleagues from throughout the business, the CarShop team embarked on the gruelling task of summiting Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England’s Lake District and Snowdon in Wales’ Snowdonia National Park. The trek marked the end of a six-month-long training and fundraising period, during which the team managed to raise £8,626. Organised through a partner of Global’s Make Some Noise - Charity Challenge; a company specialising in delivering incredible adventures to raise money for the charity – the task pushed all colleagues to their limits before finally culminating in a triumphant summit of Snowdon.

Emma Bradley, Director of Global Goodness, made the following statement:

“We’re really proud of our partnership with CarShop and it certainly reached new heights this weekend! We’re very grateful to all those involved in the challenge, who really pushed themselves to the limit for Global’s Make Some Noise. The money raised will support families living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.”

Mirroring Emma’s comments, Charity Challenge made the following statement about CarShop’s triumph:

“Charity Challenge was delighted to work with CarShop on their recent National Three Peaks Challenge. This is one of the toughest trekking challenges within the UK, and the group did a phenomenal job in summiting all three mountains. The funds that they have raised from this gruelling event will go a long way towards the projects that are supported by Global’s Make Some Noise.”

This is the latest event following a number of successful fundraising initiatives, reaffirming CarShop’s commitment to supporting Global’s Make Some Noise. As a result, Jonathan Dunkley - CarShop’s CEO, made the following comment about the success of the team involved:

“I’m immensely proud of my team and their incredible efforts to overcome this epic challenge, as it was by no means an easy thing to do. Over the past few months the team has championed the cause throughout the business and gained a lot of support from their colleagues. It really was a ‘job well done’, and the fact that nearly nine thousand pounds was raised, well that speaks for itself.

“At CarShop we’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved-to-date in support of Global’s Make Some Noise, and are fully-committed to the ongoing success of the CarShop Cares programme. Working with Global, we’ve been fortunate enough to really get involved with the local charities they support; many of whom have been into our stores to share their stories with our teams. It’s for this very reason that all colleagues throughout the business understand how they can help impact the lives of children locally, and really do get behind any initiatives to fundraise. We’ve got loads more planned throughout the rest of the year, and will be working extremely closely with the team at Global to ensure we fulfil our commitment.”
