Peugeot RCZ wins Sportscar of the Year award

For the fifth year in a row, the Peugeot RCZ has taken the Sports Car of the Year award from DieselCar magazine.

The Peugeot RCZ, the European brand's sportscar known for its stylish looks, has managed to scoop up an award again from DieselCar magazine as Sports Car of the Year 2014.

This is the fifth year in a row when the RCZ has managed to take away the accolade, which the magazine claims has established a "strong niche" thanks to its "highly distinctive character".

The stand out feature of the RCZ is its double-bubble roofline, while its 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine ensures that it can deliver on power.

It was redesigned in 2013 so its rear seats could be folded down, creating a huge boot space, while passengers can enjoy sports seats that keep them in place while the vehicle is in travelling at high speed.

DieselCar have been impressed by the vehicle's ability to deliver on speed while minimising its impact on the environment. The RCZ's carbon dioxide output is 135g/km, while the fuel economy on the Combined Drive Cycle is 54.3mpg, which keeps the amount of money drivers have to pour into their fuel bills at a low. Even so, the RCZ can get from zero to 62 miles per hour in a mere 8.7 seconds and can potentially reach a top speed of 137 miles per hour.

Editor of DieselCar Ian Robertson said: "The Peugeot RCZ offers a rewarding driving experience, agile handling and a well sorted ride, and frugal diesel power. It really is the icing on the cake for the sexily styled sports coupé."

There are a number of used RCZs available to buy from Car Shop from a variety of locations across the country, with models as new as the 2013 version.

From new, these cars are priced from £23,950 for the sport trim and £26,350 for the GT version. However, at Car Shop, prices range from around £13,000 to £19,000, representing a significant saving for a driver with their eye on this vehicle.
