You’d be forgiven for thinking that Britain’s best used car retailer*, and one of the largest employers in the automotive industry, would be content with its recent awards success. But the award train shows no signs of slowing down for CarShop. Having just been announced as one of the frontrunners in the Best Newcomer (over 250 employees) category in the third annual Investors in People Awards - praising newcomers who showcase an incredible passion, dedication and unswerving commitment to investing in their workforce - the retailer is said to be “delighted”.
Investors in People (IIP) is a global people management institution, recognising the outstanding investment in people by the most colleague-centric organisations. Having recently been accredited with the Silver Standard, CarShop is in a good position to take the accolade home, but it’s up against stiff competition from giants in the banking, transport and retail industries.
According to IIP, this year, there were over 340 entries from across 20 countries but CarShop’s entry really impressed the judges, with them noting:
“Car Shops Ltd has obviously committed to developing a skilled team and to internal growth so that each member of staff fulfils their potential. They also recognise that if they take care of employees they will in turn take care of clients. There is an obvious organisational commitment to progression and improvement. The actions undertaken, specifically the creation of the Development Journey, has developed a competency and development framework so employees can identify areas for improvement. The IIP journey has facilitated Car Shops Ltd to build, develop and retain a motivated workforce, focused on future growth and ultimately success for all.”
CarShop’s CEO, Jonathan Dunkley, commented:
“Whilst we are no stranger to being nominated for and winning awards in our own industry, this nomination carries with it a level of distinction as we’re up against some of the biggest businesses in the UK and worldwide. This is an absolute testament to all the work that has gone into underpinning this nomination, and the nomination alone is an achievement. I know my entire team are delighted by this, and we’re very much looking forward to the event.”
The winner of the category will be revealed at the ceremony at Old Billingsgate Market, London, on 29th June 2016.
